Do Your Spring Cleaning This Fall: Bio Reverse for Better Soil Prep

Posted on October 16, 2025

After harvest, growers leave behind crop residue that is rich in untapped nutrients. Left alone, this residue decomposes too slowly to be a benefit to the subsequent crop.

That’s where Bio Reverse® comes in.

Bio Reverse is a specially formulated blend of microbes that accelerate residue breakdown, unlock nutrients, warm soils, and prepare a healthy, cleaner seedbed for spring. Think of these microbes as turning post-harvest residue into a part of next season’s nutrient plan. Of the numerous benefits to a successful residue management program, there are three that have the greatest impact on crop health for next season: earlier planting, nutrient release, and improved crop health.

Plant up to Five Days Earlier

Soil temperature is a critical component in early crop development. It affects everything from planting dates, seed germination, and stand establishment.

In field trials conducted in Wisconsin, residue treated with Bio Reverse and Sweet ‘n Eezy® warmed up faster in the spring, resulting in planting dates up to five days earlier than the untreated check.

By breaking down residue through microbial activity, Bio Reverse helps the soil come to life sooner, resulting in fewer delays and stronger starts in the spring.

Unlock Nutrients for Next Year’s Crop

A 200-bushel corn crop leaves behind 5 tons of residue in the field, tying up valuable nutrients that the next crop can’t access. Within these 5 tons of residue, there are:

  • 85 pounds of nitrogen
  • 20 pounds of phosphorus
  • 170 pounds of potash.

Applying Bio Reverse post-harvest speeds up residue decomposition, releasing these nutrients back into the soil profile for the next crop.

Improve Crop Health

By unlocking nutrients, warming the soil, and improving the seedbed, Bio Reverse creates the conditions for a healthier crop all season long. Healthier crops lead to higher yields at harvest.

In third-party field trials, as seen in the graph above, yield advantages of up to 12.26 bushels were seen where Bio Reverse was applied with Sweet ‘n Eezy. For more information and insights from these research trials and others, be sure to download our 2025 Research Trials Guide

Try Bio Reverse This Fall

Bio Reverse contains a collective of beneficial microbes selected for targeted residue breakdown:

  • Bacillus celluloyticus: Enhances degradation of cellulose
  • Bacillus ligninphilus: Utilizes lignin as its carbon source to accelerate residue breakdown
  • Rhodopseudomonas palustris: Breaks down lignin and organic acids by metabolizing carbon dioxide in aerobic and anaerobic environments
  • Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Acts as a food source for microbial colonies during establishment

Proven year after year in third-party field trials, Bio Reverse is a key tool in managing residue breakdown. When combined with a carbon-based product like Sweet ‘N Eezy or MicroCarb, even greater results can be seen. The carbon in these products serves as a food source for microbes, making them more active in the soil.

Program Recommendations

Bio Reverse: 1 pt/acre

Sweet ‘n Eezy: 1qt/acre

The applications for Bio Reverse are versatile and can be:

  • Applied with burndown programs
  • Mixed with liquid fertilizers
  • Impregnated on dry fertilizers
  • Included in pivot irrigation
  • Applied in the fall or spring

With every application, spray alongside a carrier to ensure adequate coverage of residue.
